Tom is a community builder bringing together over 250,000 professionals including developers, entrepreneurs, startups, C-Level decision makers, media and investors to help drive economic development and shape the conversation around XR through AWE.
Tom has been building and managing AWE, a global XR community, which hosts the world's #1 AR+VR conference and expo in the USA, Europe and Asia and has local AWE Nite meetup chapters in Toronto, San Francisco and New York. In 2014, he founded We Are Wearables, the largest wearable tech community of its kind which merged with AWE in 2018.
Tom also founded and produced WEST, North America's first Wearable Tech & Entertainment conference in 2014 & 2015 and was on the founding team of the SportsHack in Toronto during this same period.

We achieve this by offering a series of events in various cities and in storytelling in social media and in our blog.

Augmented World Expo™ (AWE) is the world’s largest AR+VR conference and expo with events in the USA, Europe and China.
AWE gathers the top innovators – from the hottest startups to Fortune 500 – to showcase the best augmented world experiences in all aspects of life and work: from entertainment and brand engagement, to enterprise and industrial, urban and architecture, education and training, automotive and navigation, government, and commerce.
The 8th annual AWE USA 2017 hosted 4,700 attendees, 351 speakers, 212 exhibitors with an expo of 100,000 square feet on May 31-June 2, 2017 in Santa Clara. The press dubbed it “The Consumer Electronics Show of the Future. The increasingly Near Future” (USA Today).
AWE returns to Europe on 19-20 October in Munich, Germany for its second year with 1,500 attendees, 100 speakers and 100 exhibitors expected. Tickets are on sale for this event at www.aweeu.com.
WEST (Wearable Entertainment & Sports Toronto), Founding Producer
WEST: Wearable Entertainment & Sports Toronto was North America's only one-day event dedicated to exploring how wearable tech is changing the game of sports and how we make and experience entertainment. WEST was hosted in 2014 & 2015 in Toronto. In 2015, WEST hosted over 600 people with 42 speakers on stage and 31 exhibitors taking up two floors at the MaRS Discovery District Centre. Participating companies included The VOID, Wearable Experiments, CFC, TIFF, MLSE, Lightwave, Intellitix, PixMob, STATS, Zebra Sports, Moff, and Transhumanist Party leader Zoltan Istvan.
Sportshack Weekend, Co-Producer
SportsHack was Canada's first wearable tech hackathon focused on sports which ran for 2 years in a row. The first event in 2014 was set within the iconic Mattamy Athletic Centre, formally Maple Leaf Gardens. This event was in partnership with IBM, Ryerson University, and We Are Wearables. Sportshack gave participants the chance to work with the coolest wearable, Cloud and Analytics technologies applied in the world of sports.
